CMU Hosts Fire Up Fest 2024

Students, student-athletes and fans attend annual pep rally to open the 2024 athletic season.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Central Michigan University officially opened its 2024 athletic season as it hosted the annual Fire Up Fest pep rally Wednesday night outside the John G. Kulhavii Events Center.
Ice cream, tacos and pizza were served to the assembled crowd, which included students, student-athletes, faculty, administrators, and community members. Various yard games, inflatables and display tables were set up in the grass outside the Kulhavi Center.
CMU President Bob Davies opened the presentation as he fired up the assembled crowd. Zyzelewski Family Vice President/Director of Athletics Amy Folan introduced several student-athletes including women's basketball's Tamara Ortiz, men's basketball's Anthony Pritchard, men's golf's Jeffrey Andrus, lacrosse's Sadie Hinkle, and gymnastics' Luciana Alvarado-Reid and urged fans to attend athletic events.

Members of the lacrosse, men's golf, baseball, women's golf, softball, gymnastics, men's basketball, and women's basketball teams spoke to the crowd urging fans to attend their upcoming athletic events. The Snake Charmers, leaders of the Snake Pit, also spoke about their group. CMU cheerleaders and dance team members performed in-game routines.
Central Michigan opens its 2024 football season tonight when it hosts Central Connecticut State at 7 p.m. at Kramer/Deromedi Field at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
