Alex Cramer Earns Weekly MAC Award

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan's Alex Cramer was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday in a vote of league coaches.

Cramer, a graduate student who wrestles at 174 pounds, went a perfect 3-0, scoring bonus points in all three of his matches, in the Chippewa Challenge at American University in Washington, D.C.

Cramer posted a technical fall and two major decision victories in running his win streak to nine matches and improving to 18-3 on the season.

A two-time defending MAC champion at 174 who is ranked No. 1 in the conference, the Grayslake, Ill. native outscored his three opponents by a combined 43-6. His third win of the tournament, a 15-0 tech fall over Chris Neal of Cal State Bakersfield, was the 99th of his career.

With his next victory, Cramer will become the 28th wrestler in CMU history to join the program's 100-Win Club. Cramer is ranked seventh nationally by InterMat and eighth by FloWrestling.
