CMU's Shrader Earns Weekly MAC Award

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Mason Shrader was named the Mid-American Conference co-West Division Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday.
Shrader, a redshirt senior from South Lyon (Brighton High School), finished 4-1 to place third at 157 pounds at the 29th Annual Keystone Classic at The Palestra in Philadelphia.
Shrader, who is ranked 25th nationally by FloWrestling 29th by InterMat, posted an 8-5 victory over Anthony White of Rutgers in the third-place match. White is ranked 30th and 25th, respectively.
En route to his third-place finish, Shrader posted a 19-4 technical-fall victory over Michigan State's Braden Stauffenberg and a 4-3 win over Nick Stampoulos of Lock Haven. Shrader's lone loss in the tournament came on a 7-4 decision to Penn's Jude Swisher, a returning NCAA Championships qualifier who is ranked 11th by FloWrestling and 13th by InterMat.
Shrader shared the MAC West Wrestler of the Week Award with Ohio 157-pounder Derek Raike, who won the West Virginia Mountaineer Open.
Shrader and the Chippewas return to action with a nonconference dual meet at Indiana on Friday, Dec. 5.
