CMU Athletics Hosts Dress to Impress Event

76 first-year student-athletes from 14 athletic teams attended the annual event.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- On Tuesday, March 18, first year student-athletes gathered in the Indoor Athletic Complex Team Room for the annual Dress to Impress program as a part of CMU Athletics' four-year career series.

This program was facilitated by Student-Athlete Leadership Development in partnership with Fashion Merchandising students from the RSOs: Verge Magazine and Threads Fashion. The purpose of this program was to educate student-athletes on the ins and outs of attire, specifically how to appropriately dress in various professional settings. Student-athletes walked away with an understanding of the how to dress for the occasion while embracing their personality and style in the process.

The event opened with an informative presentation covering why it is important to dress professionally and touched on the difference between business casual and business professional. The presentation offered a few simple interview lo.looks for both males and females. Lastly, there were some tips and tricks on how to match different items of clothing and how to properly take care of garments.
Following the presentation, student-athletes had the opportunity to walk around to different stations offering mini activities along with additional education. The stations offered at this event were men's and women's styling, suit measurements, clothing maintenance, hair styling, makeup, how to tie a tie, and accessories. In total, 76 student-athletes from 14 athletic teams attended the event.

Student-Athlete Leadership & Development would like to thank all volunteers and professionals who helped make this event possible. The four-year career series will continue next week as sophomore student-athletes will participate in Dining Etiquette Night.
