CMU Athletics Holds Special Graduation for Spring Student-Athletes

Twenty student-athletes from the baseball, lacrosse and softball programs go through graduation ceremonies because of scheduling conflicts.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Twenty Central Michigan student-athletes were honored in a graduation ceremony on Saturday in the atrium of the Kulhavi Events Center.
The 20 student-athletes are members of the Chippewa baseball, lacrosse and softball programs and, because of scheduling conflicts, are unable to partake in the May 9-10 graduation ceremonies in McGuirk Arena.
The ceremony included remarks by CMU President Neil Dr. MacKinnon, Zyzelewski Family Vice President/Director of Athletics Amy Folan, and Deputy Athletics Director/Administration and Senior Women's Administrator Tangela Cheatham.
Each of the team's head coaches – baseball's Jake Sabol, lacrosse's Emilia Ward, and softball's McCall Salmon – delivered a speech.
President MacKinnon presented stoles and diplomas to the student-athletes while Dr. Kelly Murphy, CMU faculty athletics represented, recited the roll.
Seventy-three CMU student-athletes will graduate this semester. Those 73 graduates represent 30 majors. For 53 consecutive semesters, CMU student-athletes have recorded a cumulative grade point average over 3.00.
The graduates: Baseball, Greg Guzik II, Elijah Henning, Quin Konuszewski, AJ Kostic, Nate Ross; lacrosse, Emma Allen, Skye DePrado, Celia Dow, Jane Durkin, Sadie Hinkle, Alyssa Lowe, Alexa Martel, Reagan Martinsen, Maggie Merrill, Emma Potter, Hanna Wenger; softball, Allyssa Hollo, Samantha Souva, Maddie Springer, Madelyn Wallace.
