MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Central Michigan Head Football Coach Matt Drinkall has officially announced the addition of Matt Myers as his program's new Director of Internal Operations on Tuesday afternoon.
Myers rejoins Drinkall after playing for him and serving as an assistant coach on his staff at Kansas Wesleyan.
"I am so excited to welcome Matt Myers as our new Director of Internal Operations, and it's home run hire for our program," Drinkall said. "Matt's credentials speak volumes, and he brings with him valuable experience as a former college head coach. He was honored as the AFCA National Assistant Coach of the Year, which is given to those who have on-field success and have made a huge impact in their communities. Beyond that, I've had the privilege of working with him before, and I can tell you first-hand that his passion for helping people and serving players is unmatched. He's the kind of leader who pours himself into every situation and every relationship. Matt's a perfect fit to guide our players, ensuring they have every resource—on and off the field—to thrive here at Central Michigan. His experience, his heart, and his commitment make him an invaluable addition to our family."
Myers joins the Central Michigan football program after serving nine years on the coaching staff at Kansas Wesleyan, including two and a half years as the head coach (2022-25) and six years as an assistant coach (2016-21). The 2021 American Football Coaches Association NAIA Assistant Coach of the Year, Myers guided the Coyotes to back-to-back 8-3 seasons and a combined 18-10 overall record from 2023-25. As an assistant coach, Kansas Wesleyan posted a 61-11 overall record and a 44-7 record in the KCAC and helped guide the Coyotes to three KCAC championships (2018, 2019, 2021), and NAIA playoff appearances (2018, 2019, 202). He also played linebacker for the Coyotes. A native of Gypsum, Kansas, Myers earned his bachelor's degree in Sport Management from KWU.
