Nine-match home slate led by visits from Butler, Loyola Chicago; August road trips to Wisconsin, Cincinnati
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — The 2025 schedule for Central Michigan Soccer was announced Wednesday, featuring a nine-match home slate that opens Aug. 14.
The nonleague portion features home contests against Butler (Aug. 14), Loyola Chicago (Aug. 17) and Wright State (Sept. 11). The season-opener against the Bulldogs represents the lone first-time opponent on the schedule for the Chippewas, after the 2024 slate featured four first-time matchups (Texas, TCU, Green Bay, South Dakota).
The early season road schedule includes visits to Wisconsin (Aug. 21), Cincinnati (Aug. 28) and South Dakota (Sept. 7). CMU took down the Bearcats, 2-1, in 2024 for the program's first victory over a power conference opponent since 2019; the Chippewas defeated the Badgers, 2-1, in Madison, Wis. in the programs' lone meeting in 2011. The trip to South Dakota closes out a home-and-home series that began last season.
The Mid-American Conference slate will change for the first time since 2005 with the addition of Massachusetts as a full member of the conference. UMass's first visit to Mount Pleasant as a conference member in any sport, aside from football, will take place Oct. 5 at the CMU Soccer Complex.
The Chippewas will visit reigning champion Western Michigan on the final league Sunday (Oct. 26), then host Eastern Michigan (Oct. 29) to conclude the regular season. All three Michigan-based MAC matchups resulted in a tie in 2024—Central Michigan was the only team in the MAC to collect at least one point toward the league standings from both of its top two seeds (Buffalo; Oct. 12).
The MAC slate opens Sept. 14 as the Chippewas host Ohio. The remaining home conference schedule in order: Toledo (Sept. 25), Northern Illinois (Oct. 2), Kent State (Oct. 16).
The 2025 season unofficially opens Aug. 7 with a traditional preseason exhibition at Detroit Mercy.
