
CMU's Morris Tied for 27th After Opening Day at A-Ga-Ming

KEWADIN, Mich. – Central Michigan's Brooke Morris posted back-to-back 4-over par 76s on Sunday and stands tied for 27th at the annual A-Ga-Ming Invitational at A-Ga-Ming Resort.
The final round of the 54-hole, stroke-play event is scheduled for Sunday (9 a.m.) on the resort's Sundance Course, nestled between Lake Michigan and Torch Lake.
Morris, a sophomore, totaled 8-over 152 on the 36-hole opening day. She is playing in the 79-player tournament as an individual.
Ella Zanatta and freshman Zoe Dull are among a group tied for 33rd at 9-over 153 to lead the CMU team.
Zanatta opened with a 3-over 75 and then shot 6-over 78 in Sunday's second round. Dull, playing in her first collegiate tournament, opened with a 4-over 76 and then posted a 5-over 77 in the second round.
The Chippewas are tied for eighth place with Chicago State and Bellarmine in the 11-team field at 615. CMU opened with a 307 team score and then posted a second-round 308.
Led by Addison Kartusch, Bowling Green opened with a 289 and closed with a 285 for a 574 total and a 14-shot lead over second-place Ohio (287-301).
Kartusch opened with a 1-over 71 and then shot a blistering 7-under 65 in the second round and stands at 8-under 136 for the tournament. She holds a six-shot lead over Green Bay's Riley Pechinski (71-71) and Ohio's Zoe Leubbers (69-73).
Kartusch's 65 ties the tournament record set in 2023 by Oakland's Bridget Boczar. Kartusch's 36-hole 136 total is a tournament record.
Also for the Chippewas, Lauren Davis is tied for 37th after shooting twin 77s for a 154 total; Alexis McMurray is tied for 48th after shooting 79-77 – 156; and Rachel Niskanen is tied for 51st after shooting 80-77 – 157.
Two other CMU players, Lexi Schulman and Evanka Shah, are also in the field as individuals. Schulman is tied for 59th after shooting 83-77 – 160, and Shah is 79th after an opening-round 87 followed by and 89 for a 176 total.
