Camryn with nine points on the weekend; Cogger tallies two wins, 14 saves
CLEVELAND – Senior forward Mallory Camryn and graduate keeper Ashley Coggeer take home Mid-American Conference Player of the Week honors after a weekend sweep in league play.
Tuesday's announcement marks Camryn's second time winning the award this season, the third of her career, while Cogger earns her first career weekly honor.
Camryn logged four goals on the weekend, one Friday (Sept. 26) at Ball State in a 2-1 win and collected a hat trick Sunday (Sept. 28) in a 5-4 win overtime win over Ohio.
In the game against the Bobcats, her first two goals gave Central Michigan a 2-0 lead after the first half. Camryn later fed senior Amelia Lane low for the game tying goal with 31 seconds left in regulation, then went on to score the game winning goal after collecting her own rebound, two minutes into the extra period.
Cogger recorded two wins, a total of 14 saves and a .788 save percentage. She sits at a .738 save percentage on the season, third in the MAC.
The graduate transfer entered in the second half of Friday's game in a 1-0 deficit and recorded five saves without allowing a goal, opening the door for the Chippewa victory. Cogger went on to record nine saves in Sunday's victory, after facing a season-high 20 shots.
The Chippewas return Friday, Oct. 3, at No. 14 Massachusetts, before taking on Merrimack Sunday, Oct. 5, in a neutral site game against Merrimack at Holy Cross.
