Season begins Feb. 21; slate ties a program-record nine home regular season games
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan Lacrosse will host nine regular season contests in the inaugural campaign of Head Coach Joseph Manna for the 2027 season.
Â
The home schedule includes four Mid-American Conference games: Massachusetts (March 25), Kent State (April 11), Youngstown State (April 17) and Eastern Michigan (May 1) as the regular season finale.
Â
Nonconference visits from Cincinnati (Feb. 26) and Lindenwood (March 1) open the CMU Lacrosse Complex. The month of April features each of the other three nonleague matchups: Marquette (April 1), Butler (April 8) and Xavier (April 14).
Â
The home-heavy schedule ties the 2017 and 2022 campaigns for the most home games in program history. The 2017 season was all regular season games; the 2022 season includes hosting the MAC Tournament.
Â
The regular season begins Feb. 21 at Ohio State, the first of two first-time opponents in the program's 12th season, Xavier being the other. Notre Dame, a frequent flyer on the Chippewas' schedule, will host an exhibition with CMU on Jan. 21.
Â
Robert Morris (March 20) opens CMU's MAC schedule followed by in-league visits to Akron (April 3) and Detroit Mercy (April 24).
Â
The road slate features a pair of throwback opponents with a southbound spring break trip to visit Kennesaw State (March 10) and Mercer (March 13). Butler makes a second appearance on the 2027 schedule on March 8, hosting the Chippewas on their way to Georgia.
Â
Kennesaw State and Mercer were members of the Atlantic Sun Conference (2016-17)—Mercer also in the Southern Conference (2018-20)—where the Chippewas competed before the adoption of a women's lacrosse championship by the MAC in 2021.
Â
Manna was named the third head coach of CMU Lacrosse on July 31 after a five-year stint as the first head women's lacrosse coach at NCAA II Dominican University (CA), where he led the Penguins to back-to-back conference title game appearances (2025, 2026) and amassed a 39-15 record.
Â
Manna's inaugural staff is completed by assistant coaches Hailie Moore '24, Riley Eaton and Makenna Huhn '24.
