Freshman's first career pin sparked Chippewas to road dual-meet victory
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan's Archer Anderson has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Wrestler of the Week.
Anderson, a freshman from Clarkston, posted a dramatic pin at 4:09 of SIUE's Drew Davis in the 125-pound match, sparking the Chippewas to a 21-14 MAC dual-meet victory on Friday in Edwardsville, Ill.
Archer trailed Davis, who finished third a year ago in the MAC Championships at 125 pounds, 13-3 when he reversed the Cougar, worked into a headlock, and recorded the pin, the first of his career.
Anderson's pin staked the Chippewas to a 6-0 lead, and it led to SIUE's first MAC dual-meet loss of the season and ended its dual-meet win streak at five.
Anderson and the Chippewas are scheduled to wrestle at Kent State on Friday, Feb. 13 (7 p.m.) and then are set to entertain George Mason on Sunday, Feb. 15 (noon). Both are MAC duals.
