Football to Begin Spring Practice on Tuesday, March 18

Chippewas will take the field 15 times between March 18 and April 21; Spring Game set for the evening of Tuesday, April 21 at Kelly/Shorts Stadium; First spring practice is scheduled for Tuesday, March 18.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—The Central Michigan Football program will begin spring practice on Tuesday at either the Indoor Athletic Center Turf Bay or Kelly/Shorts Stadium. This spring, the Chippewas will practice a total of 15 times and host a Spring Football Game on the evening of Tuesday, April 21.
Head coach Matt Drinkall and staff will welcome a total of 97 players to spring practice, including 39 newcomers. As a whole, the Chippewas return 58 players from their 2025 roster, including 13 players who made starts last year: running back Brock Townsend, wide receivers Langston Lewis and Tommy McIntosh, fullback Rusty VanWetzinga IV, offensive lineman Brady Ploucha, John Iannuzzi, Matthew Nehf, Martin Koivisto, Jacob Russell, and Dasan Smith, tight end/defensive end Nathan VanTimmeren, along with defensive lineman Quavion Bird, Korver Demma and JJ Douglas and defensive back Jaion Jackson. In addition, quarterbacks Angel Flores, Jadyn Glasser, and Marcus Beamon all return after seeing extensive action last season. Lewis is the lone All-MAC returnee.

CMU opens its 2026 football season at New Mexico on Saturday, August 28. The Chippewas will play six home games in 2026 (four MAC games and two non conference games), including its home opener on Saturday, Sept. 12 vs. Colgate.
2026 Central Michigan Football season tickets will go on sale sometime after the schedule is announced. Details will be announced at a later date.
