Katie Vahle debuts as interim Head Coach; Farrar’s second hat trick in three games
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Central Michigan Lacrosse ceded a 23-3 result to No. 8 Michigan Friday afternoon, the third nationally ranked opponent through six games.
Â
Friday's contest debuted 22 year-old Katie Vahle as the program's interim Head Coach. The recent graduate of, and standout goalkeeper for, Arizona State had a clear objective for Friday's contest.
Â
"It was just, 'let's go play lacrosse,' let's have fun," Vahle said. "I think through all the adversity, they brought it today. I'm super proud of them."
Â
Anna Farrar (Milton, Ga. / Cambridge) supplied the offense with her second hat trick of the season, and her career. The trifectas came in back-to-back appearances for Farrar as she missed the Lindenwood contest (Feb. 28).
Â
"When she has the ball, everyone trusts her, and she knows what to do with it and how to set her teammates up for success."
Â
The junior broke the seal for the Chippewas toward the end of the first from the eight-meter, then twice in live play in the second and fourth quarters, assisted by Kelsey Barratt (Voorhees, N.J. / Eastern) and Mia Bradley (Orchard Park, N.Y. / Orchard Park), respectively.
Â
Bradley's scoring streak came to an end at four games, though her assist in the fourth quarter maintained a streak of now five games with at least a point and moved her into the team's lead with 12 for the season.
Â
Central Michigan Lacrosse concludes its seven-game season-opening road slate Sunday at Butler (March 8, Noon ET).
