Play halted by darkness late in second round; play resumes Tuesday morning
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Play was suspended by darkness late in the second round Monday of the Bluegrass Collegiate Invitational men's golf tournament at University Club of Kentucky.
All 92 players were still on the course when play was suspended. The second round is scheduled to resume at 9 a.m. Tuesday followed immediately by the third and final round.
Keith Hunter led Central Michigan in the first round with a 3-over par 74, while Hudson Vedder shot 5-over 76, Aydan Downer posted a 7-over 78, Jeffrey Andrus Jr. shot 81, and Nicholas Kilgore carded an 82.
When play was halted on Monday night, Vedder was even par through 16 holes of his second round and was at 5-over for the tournament, tied for 19th.
Kilgore was at 4-over in the second round, Downer and Andrus were both at 6-over, and Hunter was at 7-over. Downer had completed 14 holes, while all four of the other Chippewas had completed 16 holes.
Hunter is tied for 43rd, Downer is tied for 64th, Kilgore is tied for 77th, and Andrus is tied for 83rd.
The Chippewas posted a first-round 309 team score and were tied for 15h in the 17-team field. They were in 13th place Monday when play was suspended.
The tournament is being contested on the University Club's Big Blue Course, which is playing to par 71 over 7,013 yards.
Cameron Phillips of host Kentucky and Tennessee Tech's Haden Maxwell share the lead at 2-under. Phillips had completed 14 holes in the second round, while Maxwell had completed 15.
Marquette shot 283 for the first-round lead. When play was halted, Kentucky stood in first place at 512, nine shots ahead of Marquette.
