Angel Flores Nominated for AllState AFCA Good Works Award, Wuerffel Trophy

Senior quarterback nominated for two awards; both recognize college football student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional commitment to community service, academics, and athletics.
NORTHBROOK, Ill.—Central Michigan senior quarterback Angel Flores was nominated for two national awards, including the American Football Coaches Association AllState Good Works Team and Wuerffel Trophy, the organizations announced Monday morning.
Flores was one of 175 overall nominees and 113 FBS players for the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Words Team, recognizing student-athletes and head coaches from every college football level who are making an impact through community service, academic achievement, and leadership. Established in 1992 and presented by Allstate since 2008, the program honors players who use their platforms to strengthen communities and support causes important to them.
Flores begins his second year with the Central Michigan Football program. The Casa Grande, Ariz. native transferred to Central Michigan after playing three seasons at Northern Arizona (2022-24).
In 2025, Flores saw action in nine games and concluded the year with 527 yards rushing on a team-high 107 carries and team-best eight rushing touchdowns. He also completed 19 of 28 passes (67.9 percent) for 195 yards and two touchdowns with a long pass of 48 yards and was responsible for 10 touchdowns on the season (8 rushing and 2 passing). He also ranked No. 5 in the MAC in touchdowns scored (8). His most productive games included a three-touchdown effort (rushes of 1, 6, 3 yards), rushed for 72 yards on 18 carries at Bowling Green (Oct. 18), a 95-yard rushing effort on 16 carries and two touchdowns at Akron (Oct. 4), and a career-high 134 yards on a career-high 22 carries with a long of 37 vs. Eastern Michigan (Sept. 27).
Combining his 21-game collegiate career, Flores has rushed for 890 yards on 199 carries and 16 touchdowns, completed 83-115 passes (72.2 percent) for 1033 yards and 10 touchdowns with four interceptions. He is also responsible for 26 touchdowns (16 rushing/10 passing).
In the classroom, Flores owns a 3.92 grade point average and is pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree.
Flores has also been active in the community. Among the many community service events that he has taken place in include Central Michigan's Student-Athletic Advisory Council, Special Olympics, and Pullen Elementary School Lunch Buddies. His younger brother Hugo underwent a heart transplant last fall.
The 2026 Mid-American Conference Football Media Day is scheduled for Wednesday, July 22 at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich. Central Michigan will begin its preseason practice schedule in early August.
