Chippewa Champions Center
Primary Sports: Football
Secondary Sports: All
The Chippewa Champions Center (CCC) Athletic Training room, scheduled to open in 2020, is one of three primary sports medicine department facility locations in the athletic footprint. The space will include a hydrotherapy room, rehabilitation space, treatment space, physician exam office and an x-ray and concussion diagnostic room. The hydrotherapy room will house a Hydroworx 1200 therapy pool along with two 14' x 7' plunger pools, one hot and one cold. The rehabilitation space will include a Woodway boost anti-gravity treadmill to assist in the return from injury. The treatment space will include two functional hi-low tables along with a myriad of modalities to promote healing processes. The physician office will be fully-functional and used by team physicians for evaluations and procedures when located in the athletic training room. The x-ray and concussion diagnostic room will house an Orthoscan Mobile D1 Unit to have image abilities 365 days a year. It will also have a Biodex Biosway to aid in concussion diagnosis. Two full-time staff members of the Sports Medicine Department will have offices in his facility and primarily care for the football program. This facility will be closely approximated to the CCC weight room to foster collaboration between the Strength & Conditioning and Sports Medicine departments to support the student-athletes through their continuum of performance and health.
Rose Center
Primary Sports: Basketball, Gymnastics, Wrestling, Volleyball,
Secondary Sports: Softball, Soccer
The Rose Center Athletic Training room is the original facility in the Sports Medicine Department footprint. It houses five offices for the full-time staff athletic trainers and a joint office for the graduate assistant athletic trainers. The Medical Director and Team Physician's offices are in this room as well as our insurance coordinator. The facility has two physician exam rooms and physician work area to function as our primary medical clinic for student-athletes. This space is centrally located to the facilities for gymnastics, wrestling, volleyball and basketball. The space has a separate space to focus on rehabilitation and has a hydrotherapy area with two above ground tanks that can be shifted from cold and hot temperatures.
Indoor Athletic Complex
Primary Sports: Track & Field, Cross Country, Field Hockey
Secondary Sports: Soccer, Softball
The Indoor Athletic Complex Athletic Training room is the third primary sports medicine department facility locations. This athletic training room has one joint office for a full-time staff member as well as a GA or any other staff member who is working out of the facility. Given its proximity to both the IAC weight room, turf bay, and track bay, this facility often sees utilization by all athletic teams and athletic trainers. Given its proximity to the weight room, it also allows fostering of collaboration between Strength & Conditioning and Sports Medicine departments and increases the amount of space the IAC Athletic Training Room has for rehabilitations. The facility houses a swim-ex therapy pool, which has jet flow current to allow for resisted offloaded training to aid in the return of our student-athletes from injury.
Performance Development Center
Primary Sports: Baseball
Secondary Sport: Softball
With the opening of the Cleveland Family Performance Development Center (PDC) in 2017, Sports Medicine gained an increase in space of the Athletic Training Room to care for primarily the baseball and softball student-athletes. The space has direct access to the field, which allows for increased space to accomplish rehabilitation and functional activities. This space houses one office for a full-time staff member and has been re-structured in 2019 to have increased functionality and storage to maximize the square footage of the facility. This re-structure also provided for an area with greater privacy for when in need of confidential evaluations or physician evaluations.
Soccer/Lacrosse Complex
Primary Sports: Soccer, Lacrosse
The Soccer/Lacrosse Complex Athletic Training room provides Sports Medicine personnel with a location at the facility for them to work out of, access stored supplies, and have an area that is private to treat, evaluate and triage injuries. It is a short distance away from the field and is in close proximity to both the soccer and lacrosse locker rooms. The space does become the primary medical space for home contests for the soccer and lacrosse programs.
