Â
Under current CMU Quarterbacks Coach Jake Kostner, Welke worked as Limestone’s Offensive Analyst/Quarterbacks Coach in 2022, and helped guide the Saints to one of the most impressive offensive turnarounds in NCAA history as Limestone earned an NCAA Division II playoff appearance, finished with an 8-4 overall record, and 7-2 South Atlantic Conference record. Limestone’s offense was named the nation’s No. 1 most improved unit after averaging 34.8 points (No. 22 in the nation), 464.3 total offensive yards per contest (No. 9), 197.9 rushing yards, and 266.4 yards passing per game (No. 19).
Â
Then after Kostner departed to CMU, Welke became the Co-Offensive Coordinator in 2023 and guided the Saints’ offense to 5,375 total yards (No. 15 in the nation, No. 1 in the league) and finished as the only team in NCAA Division II with a top-10 passer, rusher, and receiver. Meanwhile, quarterback Dustin Noller was named the SAC Player of the Year and a Harlon Hill Finalist after finishing in the top-10 nationally in every passing statistic.
Â
Prior to Limestone, Welke served as the Quarterbacks Coach/Offensive Coordinator at his alma mater Marshall High School for two years (2020-21). He also spent time as a quarterbacks instructor at QBU in Detroit (Feb. 2019-March 2022).
Â
Welke graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Economics & Management from Albion College (Mich.) in 2019. He played two seasons at quarterback for the Britons after transferring from Western Michigan. He threw for more than 4,000 career yards and 41 touchdowns at Marshall High School (Mich.).
