Michael McGee begins his second year as Central Michigan’s Director of Recruiting.
McGee joins the Central Michigan coaching staff after spending three seasons at Toledo Whitmer High School (2021-23). As a teacher and varsity football coach, McGee served as the running backs coach in 2023, tight ends coach in 2022 and offensive consultant in 2021.
Prior to his stint at Whitmer High School, McGee was the Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator at Siena Heights University for four seasons. He worked three seasons at Eastern Michigan as a Graduate Assistant Coach from 2012-14, where he worked with the quarterbacks, oversaw academic monitoring, and assisted the coaching staff with game and practice preparation. McGee was also selected for the AFCA’s first 30 Under 30 Coaches Leadership Institute, which took place at the 2016 AFCA Convention in San Antonio
McGee began his coaching career as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Siena Heights University from 2010-13 as he coached wide receivers in 2011 and quarterbacks in 2012.
A Columbus, Ohio native, McGee graduated from Adrian College in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He earned a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Siena Heights University in 2012.
McGee played quarterback at Adrian College for four seasons. A four-year starter, McGee set career records for most pass attempts (815), completions (494), passing yards (6,643), touchdowns (49), and highest completion percentage (60.6) in program history. In 2010, he also set single-season records for completions (183), passing yards (2,302), and touchdowns (19).
In 2004, McGee was the starting quarterback for Brookhaven High School and guided the Bearcats to their first and only football state championship in the history of Columbus Public Schools.
