MJ Oliver is in his second season with the Central Michigan Football program as its Defensive Staff Assistant.

A former Central Michigan linebacker from 2015-19, Oliver joined the Central Michigan coaching staff prior to the 2023 season. On Defensive Coordinator Robb Akey’s staff, Oliver primarily assists with coaching the Chippewas’ defensive line.

A Detroit, Mich. native, Oliver earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Michigan University in 2000.

Over his four-year Central Michigan career, Oliver finished with 193 total tackles (116 solo), 13 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, one interception, four pass deflections, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 46 career games and 20 starts at linebacker. He was a Second Team All-MAC selection in 2019 after he recorded 87 tackles (49 solo), 9.0 tackles for loss and three quarterback hurries in 14 starts as a senior. He was a two-time MAC Defensive Player of the Week.
