Tony Coaxum joined coach John Bonamego's Central Michigan football staff in February, 2018, and serves as the Chippewas' special teams/cornerbacks coach.
Coaxum has longstanding ties to both Bonamego and Chippewa defensive line coach George Ricumstrict. Bonamego served as an assistant coach Army West Point from 1993-98, and Ricumstrict was also an assistant there in 1997. Coaxum played defensive back for the Black Knights, graduating in 2000.
Coaxum brings more than a decade worth of coaching experience to CMU. Among his collegiate coaching stops were two stints as an assistant at Army, and he was part of a fellowship program for the New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, an intern with the Baltimore Ravens, and an assistant special teams coordinator with the Denver Broncos.
Coaxum was on the Denver staff when the Broncos won Super Bowl 50 in 2016.
