High School: Personal Records: 1600 (4:18.64, Otsego High School record), 3200 (9:20.47), 5k (16:03.6) … individually qualified for MHSAA Cross Country State Championships in 2019 (175th), 2021 (95th), and 2022 (16th) … team won program’s first championship in 2021 … earned all-county accolades from 2020-2022 … named to all-region, all-conference team in 2021 and 2022 … all-state honors in 2022
Personal: Son of Jason and Terra Wesseldyk … has a younger brother, Caleb, and two younger sisters, McKenna and Sadie … his father, Jason, and uncle, Shane Wesseldyk, both played baseball for Cornerstone University … loves the Detroit Tigers … favorite athlete is Justin Verlander … three-year baseball letterwinner as a pitcher … is an award-winning playwright.
Why CMU? “CMU is perfect for me because it is a place where I can pursue every one of my interests. I can participate in a great vocal performance program that my high school choir teacher earned her degree in, study film, and run cross country. At a lot of other institutions, I would have to pick one or two, but here I can do all three.”
