Micaela "Twin" Kelly returned to Central Michigan women's basketball family in August, 2022. As the director of player development, Kelly works with the team's guards, assists with on-campus recruiting, and collaborates with the program's director of operations.
Kelly was selected with the 21st pick of the 2021 WNBA Draft by the Connecticut Sun after her playing career with the Chippewas and went on to compete internationally in both Turkey and Iceland.
Between 2017 and 2021, Twin amassed one of the greatest careers in Central Michigan Women’s Basketball history. Kelly was named the 2020 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, 2021 MAC Championship Tournament MVP, a three-time All-MAC selection with first-team nods in her junior (2019-20) and senior campaigns (2020-21) and graduated with the second-most career points in program history.
Kelly’s stellar individual career as a Chippewa coincided with the most successful era in the program’s history. CMU appeared in all three NCAA Championship Tournaments that were conducted during her collegiate career—missing out on the 2020 tournament, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Central Michigan posted a record of 96-29 (61-12 MAC) during that stretch.
In her freshman season, the Chippewas recorded not only the program’s first NCAA tournament victory (v. LSU, 78-69) as an 11-seed, but also its first road NCAA tournament victory and Sweet Sixteen appearance after a dominant 95-78 display at Ohio State. During that season, Twin had already peppered her name in the record book with the eighth-best season in program history for assists (123) while earning All-MAC Freshman and MAC All-Tournament honors.
