A standout on the defensive line, in 2006 capped an outstanding career by leading the Chippewas to the Mid-American Conference championship and the program's first bowl victory, a 31-14 triumph over Middle Tennessee in the Motor City Bowl ... taken by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 2007 NFL draft ... in 2005, Bazuin was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Year, becoming just the second Chippewa to receive that honor ... led the nation in tackles-for-loss (26.5) and ranked second in sacks (16) in 2005, setting school records in both categories and tying the MAC single-season record for sacks ... holds the CMU career sacks (35.5) and tackles-for-loss (63.5) records ... named Academic All-America in 2006, was twice named Academic All-District and was a three-time Academic All-MAC pick.
