An outstanding tackle for CMU from 1938-40, Hi went on to become one of the most successful prep football coaches in Michigan history ... co-captain of the 1940 Chippewa squad and helped his team to a record of 18-5 in three seasons ... president of the men's Union Board as Central as well as a member of the student council ... made the Detroit Lions but a back injury ended his career ... coached at Chesaning, Ithaca, Cadillac, Bay City Handy and Saginaw Arthur Hill for a total of 25 years, winning 10 conference titles, posting seven undefeated seasons and twice being named state "Coach of the Year" ... teams at Cadillac won 26 straight games and claimed the 1950 state title ... went into the Michigan High School Hall of Fame in 1984.
