First team All-America third baseman and Mid-American Conference Player of the Year in 1994 ... earned first team All-MAC honors in 1994 and second team in 1992 ... at the completion of his career, ranked third in school history for extra base hits (67), fourth in doubles (37) and home runs (27) and fifth in slugging percentage (.615) ... hit .415 during 1994 All-America campaign while blasting 17 homers and driving in 63 runs to win the MAC triple crown ... the RBI total tied CMU's single-season record while the home run total ranked second ... led the Chippewas to the 1994 MAC Tournament title, 1994 NCAA appearance and the 1993 MAC regular season championship ... three-year letterwinner ... selected in the 1994 Major League Baseball draft and reached double-A in 1997 before retiring from professional baseball after four seasons ... a native of Farmington Hills, Mich., Young passed away unexpectedly in 2008 at the age of 36 ... he is survived by his wife, Michelle, and children Hanna and Liam.
