Women's Soccer Downs Northern Illinois

MOUNT PLEASANT--After a scoreless first half, the Central Michigan University women's soccer team exploded for six goals in the second half to cruise to a 6-1 win over Northern Illinois University on Sunday afternoon.
CMU raises its record to 7-9 overall and 5-4 in the Mid-American Conference.
Allison Campbell (Livonia/Jr.) got CMU on the scoreboard first with a goal at the 57:49 mark. Jacqui Lorenzo (Hudson, OH/Fr.) put the Chippewas up 2-0 with a score at the 62:06 mark.
Northern Illinois closed the gap to 2-1 on a Denise Papke goal at 64:19 but the Chippewas followed with four unanswered goals to secure the win.
Laura Fedrigo (Livonia/Sr.) scored at 69:05, Campbell posted her second goal of the afternoon at 77:01, Cari VanDyck (Medina, OH/Fr.) scored at 83:55 and Emilie VilleMonte (Farmington Hills/So.) rounded out the scoring with a penalty kick at 89:10.
The Chippewas host Ball State University on Oct. 20.
