Men's Basketball Routs Tri-State

MOUNT PLEASANT--Four players scored in double figures to lead the Central Michigan men's basketball team to a 92-62 victory over Tri-State University on Thursday night at Rose Arena.
The win ups the Chippewas' record to 6-3 on the year while Tri-State falls to 8-6.
The game was evenly matched in early minutes of the first half with five ties and three lead changes.
With the score tied at 21-21 with 8:12 to play in the opening half, Jon Borovich scored to give the Chippewas the lead for good.
Central proceeded to outscore Tri-State 15-3 down the stretch to jump to a 36-24 advantage. Mike Manciel nailed a three-pointer in the closing seconds of the half to give CMU a 41-28 halftime lead.
CMU didn't let up in the second half, scoring the first 13 points and holding Tri-State off the scoreboard until the 14:41 mark when Luke Amstutz scored a three-pointer.
At one point early in the half Gerrit Brigitha scored three straight layups.
Tri-State got as close as 70-57 with 6:13 to go in the game but David Webber reeled off nine straight points to put CMU back up by 22.
The Chippewas were led by Webber with 20 points. He shot 7-of-12 from the floor, 1-of-2 from the three-point line and 5-of-8 from the charity stripe. He also added four rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Freshmen Chris Kamanand Brigitha continue to post impressive performances. Kaman had 12 points off the bench for the Chippewas while Brigitha scored 11.
Tim Kisner was the other CMU player in twin figures with 10.
Tri-State's Chad LaCross scored a game-high 28 points.
The Chippewas are off until opening the Mid-American Conference season at Bowling Green on Jan. 6.
