CMU Falls To Xavier

The Central Michigan University men's basketball team (3-4 overall, 0-0 Mid-American Conference) lost to Xavier University (5-2 overall) by a 94-75 count on Saturday afternoon in Rose Arena.
After three ties in the early minutes of the game the Chippewas went on a 13-4 run to take a 37-30 lead with 4:43 left in the first half. Xavier came back and outscored the Chippewas 13-2 in the final four mintues of the half to take a 43-39 halftime advantage.
The Chippewas cut the Xavier lead to 46-45 at the 17:37 mark of the second half before the Musketeers claimed a 70-54 lead with 10:12 left after going on a 16-2 run. Xavier kept the pressure on building its lead to as many as 21 points in the second half.
Xavier shot .533 (32-60) while the Chippews .471 (24-51). The Musketeers also won the battle of the boards, outrebounding CMU, 40-19.
David Webber and Tim Kisner led the Chippewas with 18 points each. Webber also had a team-best six rebounds. Freshman J.R. Wallace was the other Chippewa in twin figures with 12 points.
Kevin Frey led Xavier with 29 points and nine reobunds while Lloyd Price had 22 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Maurice McAfee had 18 points and Alvin Brown added 13.
CMU travels to Georgia State on Dec. 18.
