CMU Picks Up First Win

The Central Michigan University men's basketball team (1-1 overall, 0-0 Mid-American Conference) picked up its first win in 1999-2000 with a 76-48 win over Wright State University (0-2 overall) on Tuesday night in Rose Arena.
Cold shooting plagued Wright State all night. The Chippewa defense held the Raiders to a .200 shooting mark in the first half (4-20) and .341 for the night (15-44).
Wright State knocked down the first bucket of the night but the Chippewas proceeded to go on a 11-0 run before the Raiders made their next basket at the 10:59 mark. CMU built its lead to 32-15 at the half.
The Raiders opened the second half with an 11-0 run to cut the Chippewa lead to eight points (34-26) with 17:33 left. Wright State would get as close as eight points again at the 17:00 mark but the Chippewas took control building their lead to as many as 29 points in the second stanza.
Junior guard Tim Kisner led the Chippewas with 17 pionts on the night. He shot five-of-seven from the three-point line and added a team-high six assists. Sophomore David Webber had 14 points and a team-best 10 rebounds while junior Luke Johnson chipped in 11 points.
Wright State was led by John Watkins with 18 points and Marcus May with 10.
CMU travels to Illinois-Chicago on Nov. 27 at 7 p.m.
