Chippewas Lose To Detroit

The Central Michigan University men's basketball team (3-3 overall, 0-0 Mid-American Conference) fell, 83-80, to the University of Detroit Mercy (4-2) on Wednesday night in Rose Arena.
After trailing all of the second half, junior Tim Kisner came off the bench to get the Chippewas back in the game. Kisner made three three-pointers in the last four minutes to tie the game at 75-75 with three minutes left. After Detroit's Julian Van Dyke made a pair of free throws, Kisner hit a layup with seven seconds left to cut the UD lead to 81-80. The Titans made a pair of free throws with six seconds left to make it 83-80 and the Chippewas missed their last second shot attempt to tie the game.
CMU opened the game with five three-point buckets to take a 23-18 first-half lead. Detroit came back late in the half to take a 41-37 halftime lead.
David Webber led the Chippewas with 29 points. He shot 10-of-19 from the field and seven-of-12 from the three-point line. Tim Kisner had 17 points, with 14 coming in the second half and Todd Schrotenboer had 15 points and a team-best 10 rebounds.
Detroit was led by Rashad Phillips with 31 points and Willie Green with 15.
CMU hosts Xavier on Dec. 11.
