Chippewas Lost To Georgia State

Georgia State University (1-6) picked up its first win of the year with a 74-66 victory over Central Michigan University (3-5 overall, 0-0 Mid-American Conference) on Saturday afternoon at the GSU Sports Arena.
The loss was Central's fourth straight. The Chippewas' last win came against Rochester College (81-63) on Dec. 1.
The Chippewas led by seven (36-29) at the half and extended their lead to as many as 11 points in the second half before Georgia State made its comeback. GSU outscored Central 45-30 in the second half in claiming the victory.
CMU held the edge in both the shooting and rebounding categories despite losing the game. Central outshot GSU, .448-.423 and outrebounded the Panthers, 36-32.
Dan Schell led the Chippewas with a season-best 18 points while Todd Schrotenboer scored in double figures for the third time in four games with 15 points. David Webber added 14 points to mark his seventh game in twin figures. Jon Borovich had a team-best seven assists while Derrick Bird was tips with six rebounds.
Shernard Long led Georgia State with 25 points, six rebounds and seven assists in his first game in a Panther uniform. Long, a transfer from Georgetown, just became eligible. Jarrod Hill had 13 points while Anton Reese and Kevin Morris each added 10 points for GSU.
The Chippewas travel to Purdue on Dec. 22.
