The Miami University RedHawks (10-5, 5-0 Mid-American) remained undefeated in conference action after defeating Central Michigan (5-11, 2-4 Mid-American), 3-1, in MAC play on Saturday evening. Miami took the first two games, 15-4, 15-2, before CMU won a close third game, 15-13. The RedHawks closed the match with a 15-7 win in game four.
Outside hitter Kristin Tack (Saginaw/Jr.) was the lone Chippewa with a double figure kill total. She notched 11 kills and a pair of block assists. Jennifer Mitchell (Lake Odessa/Jr.) continued her strong all-around play with seven kills, 12 digs and six total blocks, including three solos.
Setter Jessica Rocho (Honolulu, HI/Jr.) tallied 27 assists, 10 digs and two block assists. Freshman Kendra DeVries (Fremont) started her third straight match and posted 15 digs, two block assists and a service ace.
Central struggled offensively for the second straight night, hitting .090 with only 33 kills. Miami posted a .253 hitting percentage and 73 kills. CMU did win the battle at the net with nine team blocks compared to MU's seven.
The Chippewas return home to host MAC West Division-leading Western Michigan on Wednesday, Oct. 13.
