CMU Defeats Brazil Select

The Central Michigan University men's basketball team won its final exhibition game with a 98-86 victory over Brazil Select on Monday night in Rose Arena.
The Brazil Select team held a nine-point lead early in the first half before the Chippewas took the lead (22-21) on a Tim Kisner (Hopkins/Jr.) free throw with 8:36 to play in the half. CMU then went on a 13-2 run to build its lead to 40-28 before going into halftime with a 44-31 advantage.
The Chippewas kept up the pressure in the second half building their lead to as many as 19 points. Brazil went on a 9-2 run to cut the lead to eight points with 10:20 to play. The Chippewas again built their lead to 14 points before Brazil made another run to cut it to six points with two minutes to go. CMU made eight free throws in the final minute to ice the win.
The Chippewas were led by J.R. Wallace (Muskegon/Fr.) with 16 points. Dan Schell (Mount Pleasant/Sr.) and David Webber (Farmington Hills/So.) each added 12 points and Kisner chipped in 10.
Brazil was led by Guilherme Joanoni with 27 oints, Brenno Brassioli with 16 and Marcio Cipriano with 15.
CMU opens the regular season at home against Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Nov. 20 at 7 p.m.
