Women's Soccer Falls In Season Opener

MOUNT PLEASANT--The Central Michigan University women's soccer team (0-1 overall) dropped a 1-0 decision to Michigan State University on Friday afternoon at The Soccer Field Inside Bennett Track.
The lone goal came from the foot of MSU's Tiffany Laskowski on a one-on-one breakway at 24:27. The Spartan netminder, Sara Kloosterman, made six saves in shutting down the Chippewa offense.
Beth Quiney (Milford/Jr.) started in net for the Chippewas and made three saves while allowing one goal. Aryn McCumber (Rochester Hills/So.) relieved Quiney at the half and made two saves.
Allison Campbell (Livonia/Jr.) and Kjersten Kuhlman (St. Louis, MO/Jr.) led the Chippewas with three shots each.
CMU travels to Valparaiso on Aug. 27 for a 1 p.m., matchup.
