Women's Soccer Posts 5-0 Win Over Valparaiso

VALPARAISO, Ind.-- Emilie VilleMonte (Farmington Hills/So.) scored a pair of goals to help the Central Michigan women's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Valparaiso on Sunday afternoon.
The win evens the Chippewas' record at 1-1 for the season.
After a scoreless first half, the Chippewas exploded for five goals in the second half.
VilleMonte got CMU on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal at the 48:00 mark and made it 2-0 with a goal at 52:35. Katie Rawlings (North Olmsted, OH/Fr.) and Marcy Abner (Brighton/Sr.) had assists on VilleMonte's second score.
Kjersten Kuhlman (St. Louis, MO/Jr.) scored at 54:02 to extend the CMU lead to 3-0 while Rawlings and Kit Schwartz (DesMoines, IA/So.) rounded out Central's scoring.
Sabrina Borgquist (West Bloomfield/So.) and Cari VanDyck (Medina, OH/Fr.) each added assists on the Kuhlman goal, Erin McMaster (Glen Ellyn, IL/So.) had an assist on the Rawlings score and McMaster and Allison Campbell (Livonia/Jr.) both assisted on the Schwartz marker.
The Chippewa defense held the Crusaders to just one shot on the day while Central fired 30 shots at Valparaiso.
CMU goalie Aryn McCumber (Rochester Hills/So.) made one save to notch her first shutout on the season.
CMU plays next weekend at the Purdue Boilermaker Challenge Cup. The Chippewas take on West Virginia on Sept. 1 and play in either the consolation or championship match against Purdue or Illinois State on Sept. 3.
