Women's Soccer Defeats Toledo

MOUNT PLEASANT--The Central Michigan University women's soccer team (3-7 overall, 1-2 Mid-American Conference) picked up its first conference win with a 5-2 victory over the University of Toledo on Sunday afternoon at The Soccer Field Inside Bennett Track.
CMU scored three unanswered goals in the first half to take a 3-0 lead. Jamie Tekotte (Fairview, PA/Fr.) opened the scoring at 21:38 while Allison Campbell (Livonia/Jr.) added a goal at 34:42 and Erin McMaster (Glen Ellyn, IL/So.) scored at 36:36.
Toledo scored first in the second half on a goal by Corrie Hasenjager at 49:41 to make it 3-1 but the Chippewas responded minutes later when Laura Fedrigo (Livonia/Sr.) scored at 53:52 to increase the Chippewa lead to 4-1.
Anna Rask scored at 57:18 for the Rockets to close the gap to 4-2 but the Chippewas again answered with a score when Sabrina Borgquist (West Bloomfield/So.) drove one home at 71:29 to round out the scoring.
CMU goalie Beth Quiney (Milford/Jr.) made six saves and allowed two goals in the winning effort.
The Chippewas next play at Buffalo on Sept. 29 and at Kent on Oct. 1.
