MOUNT PLEASANT -- The Central Michigan Chippewas (10-7-1, 8-4 Mid-American) topped the IP-Fort Wayne Mastodons with the help of Erica Peterson's five-point outing.
The two teams played to a scoreless first half. However, the Chippewas would find the back of the net four times in the second stanza.
Erica Peterson (Fenton/Jr.) opened the scoring at 48:49 when she picked the pocket of a defender and went in all alone on the IP-Fort Wayne goalkeeper. Jennifer Williamson (Midland/So.) found the twine twice, scoring off of lead passes at 52:42 and again at 55:48. Sabrina Borgquist (West Bloomfield/Jr.) got an assist on Williamson's first goal and Peterson picked up assists on both. Katherine Schwartz (Des Moines, Iowa/Jr.) picked up the last goal in the 86th minute off of Peterson's cross.
The Chippewas return to action on Friday, Nov. 1, when they host Big Ten foe, Purdue. Game time at the CMU Soccer Field is at 2 p.m.
