Women's Soccer Downs Marshall, 2-1

MOUNT PLEASANT - The Central Michigan women's soccer team (5-4-1 overall, 4-1 Mid-American) scored twice in a 2:15 period to beat Marshall on Sunday, 2-1.
Allison Campbell (Livonia/Sr.) scored in the 63rd off of a crossing pass from Erica Peterson (Fenton/Jr.) to tally the game-winner. Sabrina Borgquist (West Bloomfield/Jr.) also picked up an assist on the play.
Marshall's Erin Steinke opened the scoring with a goal in the 23rd minute. She scored off a lead pass from Amanda McMahon, who picked up an assist on the play. Campbell then tied it up in the 60th minute when her shot deflected off a Marshall player and went in.
Kari Alexander (Midland/So.) faced 10 shots, nine of which were on goal. She made 8 saves to pick up the victory.
The Chippewas return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 10, in Kalamazoo to take on Western Michigan. This game was scheduled to be played on Sept. 14 but was postponed due to the national tragedies.
