NORMAN, Okla. -- Central Michigan trailed 38-36 at the half but a 14-2 run early in the second was the difference as Oklahoma pulled away for an 81-64 win on Wednesday in the Lloyd Noble Center.
David Webber picked up an offensive foul, his fourth of the game, only one minute into the second half. After that, CMU would only score two points over the next six minutes as Oklahoma built up a 14-point lead.
Central (2-2, 0-0 Mid-American) committed 12 turnovers in the second half and were outrebounded 37-25 in the game.
Whitney Robinson led the Chippewas with 17 points and five rebounds. Mike Manciel had 15 points and Chris Kaman 12 points and seven boards.
Webber had 10 points and two assists.
Aaron McGhee had 19 points and 11 rebounds, both game highs, to lead OU (2-1, 0-0 Big 12).
The Chippewas jumped out to a 4-0 lead from the start but it was quickly erased. The Sooners led by as many as eight in the first half but a Webber three from the top of the key gave CMU a one-point lead with just over a minute left in the first. Just after that Webber picked up a key third foul with just 41 seconds left before the break. Two OU free throws with 0.6 seconds left gave the Sooners a two-point edge.
CMU shot just 38 percent in the second half. After trailing by 17, Central was able to cut the lead to 12 with four and a half minutes left but that would be as close as CMU could get.
Hollis Price and Jason Detrick each scored 17 points for OU.
