Women's Soccer Advances in MAC Tourney

MOUNT PLEASANT -- The Central Michigan women's soccer team (11-8-1, 8-4 Mid-American) continues its run at a MAC Tournament title. The Chippewas downed the Marshall Thundering Herd in first-round action on Tuesday afternoon, 2-1.
It was Allison Campbell (Livonia/Sr.) who sent the Herd home packing as she picked up both goals for the Chippewas. Campbell set the single-season goal mark by opening the scoring in the11th minute of action. Sabrina Borgquist (West Bloomfield/Jr.) raced down the right side and centered to Campbell to pick up the assist.
The Herd retalliated with a goal in 69th minute. Michelle Losekamp picked up a lose ball in the goal box and snuck it by Kari Alexander (Midland/So.) to knot the game at one.
Campbell and Borgquist teamed up again to regain the lead for the Chippewas. Campbell headed in a cross from Borgquist to tally the game-winner.
Alexander played the entire game for CMU and faced 10 shots. Seven of Marshall's shots were on goal and Alexander made six saves.
The Chippewas continue MAC Tournament play with the semifinal match in Athens, Ohio, on Saturday, Nov. 9.
