Women's Soccer Tops Huskies, 4-0

DeKalb, Ill.- The Central Michigan's women's soccer team (1-3-1 overall, 1-0 Mid-American Conference) picked up its first win of the season with a shutout over Northern Illinois Monday afternoon.
The Chippewas opened the scoring in the 31st minute with a goal by Emilie VilleMonte (Farmington Hills/Jr.) with a shot from 22 yards out. Next to get on the board for the Chippewas was Jacqui Lorenzo (Hudson, Ohio/So.) who scored in the 55th minute with a shot from 15 yards out.
Sabrina Borgquist (West Bloomfield/Jr.) closed the scoring with a pair of goals, one in the 70th minute of the goal from 15 yards out and in the 87th minute from 12 yards out.
Central Michigan goalkeeper Kari Alexander (Midland/So.) stopped four shots on goal for the Chippewas to pick up her second career shutout.
Central Michigan set a team record in the game with 38 shots with 16 shots on goal. The old record was 30 set last year against Valparaiso
Central Michigan returns to action next Friday, Sept. 21 hosting Miami. The match at the CMU soccer field is slated to start at 4 p.m.
