Women's Soccer Downs Detroit in OT, 3-2

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan women's soccer (2-4-1 overall, 1-1 Mid-American Conference) bounced back from a loss Friday to defeat Detroit on Sunday, 3-2, in overtime.
Allison Campbell (Livonia/Sr.) scored twice for the Chippewas. She opened the scoring in the tenth minute of the game with a goal from five yards out. Sabrina Borgquist (West Bloomfield/Jr.) was credited with an assist on the goal. Campbell struck again in the sixth minute of overtime with the game-winner. She scored off a rebound to win the game for the Chippewas.
Detroit tied the game at one in the 32nd minute when Tanya Tiselj scored on a free kick from 20 yards out. CMU took the lead back after Jennifer Williamson (Midland/So.) scored in the 45th minute off a pass from Jacqui Lorenzo (Hudson, Ohio/So.). Cari VanDyck (Medina, Ohio/So.) also picked up an assist on the play. Detroit managed to send it to overtime when Mandi Jasky got a goal in the 90th minute of play off a free kick.
Elizabeth Quiney (Milford/Sr.) started in goal for the Chippewas and made two saves. Kari Alexander (Midland/So.) came in at the half and made six saves to pick up the victory. CMU hosts Ohio in its next game on Sept. 28 at 4:00 p.m.
