MOUNT PLEASANT --Central Michigan's women's soccer team (3-4-1 overall, 2-1 Mid-American Conference) defeated Ohio University, 1-0, Friday afternoon at the CMU soccer field.
Jacqui Lorenzo (Hudson, Ohio/So.) scored in the 26th minute off a lead pass from Allison Campbell (Lovonia/Sr.) who picked up an assist on the play.
The Chippewas made that lead hold up behind an outstanding performance from CMU's defense and goalkeeper Kari Alexander (Midland/So.), who made eight saves in the game including two late in the game to preserve the victory.
CMU travels to Akron on Sunday, Sept. 30, to battle the Zips at 1 p.m.
