Wisconsin-Milwaukee Tops Women's Soccer, 2-1

MILWAUKEE, WIS. -- The Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers bested the Central Michigan women's soccer team (0-2-1 overall) on Friday night, 2-1.
The first seven minutes were action packed when the Panthers got on the board in the fourth minute. Erin Blaedow posted the game's first goal for UWM and gave it the early lead. Allison Campbell (Livonia/Sr.) answered three minutes later when she scored a header off of a free kick from Anne Fedrigo (Livonia/Sr.). Wisconsin-Milwaukee got the game-winner in the 62nd minute when Rana Thompson put in a penalty kick.
Elizabeth Quiney (Milford/Sr.) got the start and made four saves on five shots, allowing one goal. Kari Alexander (Midland/So.) got the nod in the second half and made four saves on five shots and allowed a goal as well. Chippewa goalkeepers faced 21 panther shots, 10 of which were on goal.
Central Michigan returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 9, when it plays at Marquette in Milwaukee, Wis. The match is set to start at 2 p.m. (EDT).
