Another Honor For Webber

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan guard David Webber (Farmington Hills/Detroit Country Day) was named Mid-American Conference "Scholar-Athlete of the Week," in addition to earning West Division "Player of the Week" honors.
Webber averaged 33.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game last week. The senior dropped in a MAC season-high 44 points versus Miami including 19 free throws in 24 attempts. Both free throw marks set Rose Arena records and the 44 points tied for the eighth-best mark by a Chippewa player. Webber had four boards, seven assists and three steals versus Miami.
The MAC's second-leading scorer with 19.9 points per game, Webber also had 22 points, three rebounds, five assists and four steals against Bowling Green.
Kent State's Trevor Huffman was the pick in the East Division Player of the Week.
The shooting guard sports a 3.05 grade point average with an English education major.
Webber earned the player of the week honors for the second time this season and the seventh time in his career. The scholar-athlete billing was the fifth time he was honored with the academic award in his career.
CMU plays at Ball State on Wednesday, Jan. 9, and at Western Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 12.
