Marshall Tops Women's Soccer, 3-1

HUNTINGTON, West Virginia - The Central Michigan University women's soccer team spotted the Marshall University Thundering Herd a three-goal lead, and fell to the Mid-American Conference rival, 3-1, on Friday evening.
CMU is now 4-6-4 on the year and owns a 3-4-3 mark in the MAC.
The Thundering Herd took a two-goal lead into the half and added to it in the the 79th minute. However, the Chippewas cut the deficit to two goals when Emilie VilleMonte (Farmington Hills/Sr.) found the net only seconds after MU's third tally. Stacy Downing (Carmel, Indiana/Fr.) got an assist on the play.
Kari Alexander was very busy in net. She tallied 12 saves on the evening and faced 15 shots on goal. Marshall finished the match launching an astounding 25 shots in CMU's direction.
The Chippews return to action on Sunday afternoon, October 20. CMU will play Ohio in Athens, Ohio, at 1 p.m.
