Kaman Named Preseason All-MAC West Division

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University center Chris Kaman was tabbed a preseason All-Mid-American Conference West Division selection by the MAC News Media Association.
Kaman, a seven-foot junior, is CMU's top returning scorer and rebounder after posting averages of 11.8 points and 8.3 boards per game last season. He ranked fourth in the MAC in blocks with 1.63 per game and his rebounding average ranked fifth. The center shot .614 from the floor, the second best mark in CMU history behind Derek Boldon's .634 percentage in 1984.
Other national preseason publications have tabbed Kaman for preseason awards. Both The Sporting News and Lindy's preview magazines list the Chippewa as a second team All-MAC selection. Lindy's ranks Kaman 17th nationally among centers while The Sporting News listed Kaman as the MAC player "most likely to blossom."
