Chippewas Battle Buffalo To 2-2 Tie

BUFFALO, New York -- The Central Michigan University women's soccer team tallied its second straight tie with a 2-2 match against the Buffalo Bulls in Buffalo, New York, on Friday evening.
The Chippewas are now 1-3-2 on the season and sport a 0-1-1 mark in Mid-American Conference play.
Kari Alexander (Midland/Jr.) faced a flurry of activity in helping the Chippewas preserve the tie. Buffalo had outshot the Chippewas 17-11 at the end of regulation. Alexander saw nine shots and made seven saves, including one in the first overtime. Her counterpart, Anna-Lesa Calvert of Buffalo, faced five shots and made three saves. Each team fired three shots in the two overtimes.
The Chippewas got on the board first when Emilie VilleMonte (Farmington Hills/Sr.) found the net at 22:19. She beat Buffalo's netminder off of a corner kick by Jacqui Lorenzo (Hudson, Ohio/Jr.).
Buffalo's potent offense responded. Natalia Crofut and Nicole Olszewski netted back-to-back scores and gave the Bulls a 2-1 lead with 20 minutes left in the match
However, Jessica LaFevers (Rochester Hills/Fr.) had an answer at the 76:09 mark of the match. She launched one into the net after a goal-crease scramble ensued on a corner kick.
The Chippewas continue the road swing with a match at Kent State on Sunday, September 22. The match is slated to start at 1 p.m.
