CMU Coaches Zone To Feature Chippewa Winter Sports

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University sports fans have another way to follow the Chippewas during the winter sports season.
The CMU Public Broadcasting Network has expanded its CMU Coaches Zone show to include a winter show focusing on men's basketball, women's basketball, gymnastics, and wrestling.
The CMU Coaches Zone is hosted by Kurt Wilson, director of television/radio for CMU athletics. The half-hour show airs Mondays at 7:30 p.m., on the CMU Public Broadcasting Network. Network stations include WCMU-Channel 14, Mount Pleasant; WCML-Channel 6, Alpena; WCMV-Channel 27, Cadillac; WCMW-Channel 21, Manistee; W46AD-Channel 46, Traverse City; and W69AV-Channel 69, Leland.
The first show will air on Monday, Jan. 6.
"The winter show will be a similar format to the football show," Wilson said. "Each show will recap the previous week's action along with previewing the upcoming schedule. There will be player features and a segment called 'Coaches Clipboard' that will educate the viewer on the sport.
"We made some improvements to the football show and now we hope to continue the efforts with the winter sports show. It's a great time to showcase some of our other sports as the basketball programs are doing well and the wrestling and gymnastics teams are at a high level nationally."
