MOUNT PLEASANT -- The Central Michigan University soccer team saw its three-game winning streak come to end when it fell to Eastern Michigan, 1-0, in a Mid-American Conference matchup on Sunday afternoon.
With the loss CMU falls to 5-4-2 overall and are 3-3-1 in MAC play. Eastern Michigan remains undefeated in conference bouts. It is 5-5-3 overall and owns a 4-0-2 MAC slate.
The Eagles got everything they needed on their first and only goal which came in the first stanza. In the 40th minute, Abi Morrell connected on 25-yard free kick that sailed over the head of CMU netminder Anne Decker.
The Chippewas had plenty of scoring chances to knot the game at one but EMU netminder Nikki Allen, who saw 13 shots, made nine saves in the shutout effort.
Anne Decker got the start in net for CMU. She saw seven EMU shots and made two saves, allowing one goal.
The three-game homestand continues for CMU when it hosts Ohio on Friday, October 10. Kickoff at the CMU Soccer Complex is slated for 1 p.m.
